1965-1966 B, C Body Assembly Manual as PDF's
1965-1966 B, C Body Assembly Manual as PDF's
Over the past few weeks, I spent some time cleaning up some parts of the 1965 & 1966 B & C body Olds Assembly manuals. They're very instructional in how the big cars of 1965 and 1966 go together. Someone may know more than me, but this seems to be how Lansing showed the other factories how to put together these cars. And there are some diagrams which seem to teach manufacturing what the engineers intended.
There's just over 400 pages. The content I got was a mix of the 65 & 66 assembly manuals so I've left it mixed here - mostly because many details, other than the body panels, were common to big cars during those 2 years. You'll see year citations on the lower right of many of the diagrams if you're curious.
This is not complete, but before the download I'd never seen many of these diagrams. They go in to much greater detail than the Chassis Service Manual (CSM) & Fisher Body Manual. And these diagrams are different from the Parts & Accessories books in many cases. For Cutlass/442 and Toro people, this has little to nothing on your cars. But if you want to see how Olds built the big cars back during these years, they may have a few breadcrumbs of interest to you.
Not to go into too much detail, but I split the original (variable quality) PDF's into one 600 DPI (high res) jpeg per page & cleaned 'em all up in Photoshop. That took a while. I renumbered them as best I could with the original factory numbering/lettering scheme. The resulting full res PDF was huge (>1gb), but I got a pretty good looking one down to a couple of hundred megs after some fiddling with image sizes & resolutions.
Quality-wise, to me these look a lot more clear and clean than my original download, but you can't really put content back in that wasn't there. Some pages look better than others. I took a few layout and clean up liberties here & there, but generally stayed true to the original diagrams.
Owing to the 20mb attachment limit on ClassicOlds, I've broken what should be 1 book, or parts of 1 book, into 18 pieces. If you download them, you can use Acrobat or MacOS preview to reassemble them into back into 1 file if you like. I split a couple of the larger sections (with lots of diagrams) in to "File1" and "File2" where they were one section of the original book. When the sections were short/small, I consolidated a few into 1 file to have fewer, larger uploads. If you want to reassemble the book, the file numbering scheme should be a good guide as to what goes where.
Even using the original Olds section & page numbering scheme, related content is spread in lots of different sections. If you want to see everything on a topic, you'll want to dig through all sections to find all the related diagrams.
There no are complete wiring diagrams in here, but there are black and white diagrams for subsystems like the power windows, power seats and so on.
If anyone has more pieces of this 1965 - 1966 puzzle to share or sell, count me among the interested. It'd be great to have a complete book.
Enjoy reading,
Chris

Great. Thank you so much. This is very useful. By the way, I used the online tool https://pdfguru.com/forms/w-2-form, which I usually use to fill out W-2 forms online, to edit and merge these PDF files for my convenience. With its help, you can also summarize large files, which is cool. In general, it might be useful to someone else too.
