What was the first year for 4 speed Starfires? I have seen some 66's with them.

Not sure about Statfires but when My family was in Iowa in 61 on a pipeline job, the Olds dealer in the town had a Super 88 bubble top with a four speed on the showroom floor. It was probably a Borg Warner because the shifter stick was long and skinny. I don't know if he installed the four speed or ordered it that way.

Someone would have had to have some pull to get that factory built as 4-speed was N/A on option list. Not saying he couldn't have ordered a 3-speed car and had the 4-speed put in.

1965 was first year for 4-speed in Starfire (and rest of Olds B-body), and 1966 the last. If there were any four-speed 67-later big cars made, I've never heard of one. I've heard of only a few 3-speed column shift big cars from 67-71.

I have only seen 2 4spd Starfires in this area, both were 1965 black on black, one a Coupe, and one a Convertible, and I have never seen a 1966 Starfire with 4 spd, although I have heard they exist! Production was lower on the '66, I believe, though, so that may explain it!

It was a "4 on the floor", and by that you mean the CAR'S floor, and not the showroom floor? Joking...but seriously, maybe it was a 3 speed on the floor; that might not be that hard a conversion to do a a 3 on the tree car. Pretty sure those year big cars would not accept a 4 speed trans (not drilled for one) unless perhaps an "adaptator" was used. Such things existed back in the day (and still do even today).
