1956 Super 88...er...stuff...

Hello everyone,

First of all, a big thanks to all of those who helped me in the newbie forum with advice about my first purchase. Now that I've taken the plunge, I am quite sure that I'll need to obtain some basic things. I've owned classic (or at least old) cars before, but this one is different because it is one that I'm really insanely happy with and I've wanted for many years.

I would like to buy a soft cover for it. I would also like to purchase the repair manual and any restoration manuals/books that you good folks might be inclined to suggest or recommend. I have tools already...is there anything else specific to these cars that you guys would suggest?

Thank you so much in advance!

There are several companies that make nice covers. You choice of a soft cover sounds like the car will be stored indoors. California Car Cover comes to mind.

Buying an original shop manual is one of the best things you can do. Look on ebay and buy an original one. Check the prices before you buy because they will vary a lot.

Thanks so much for the reply! The car will actually be stored outdoors, but in an enclosed, locked area. It's essentially a garage without a roof...not ideal, but it's all I have at the moment. I will definitely check e-bay for a shop manual. Thank you!

I also like the 4 doors since mine is a 55 Super 88. Only unusual option on the car is power windows from the factory and they all still work.

I don't know why, man...I love the 4 door with the B post...go figure! You're lucky you found one with factory power windows! That's really cool.
