1956 88 windshield leak questions
after making only a couple of phone calls, I'm finding business' are afraid of cracking the windshield just to change the gasket, so now I'm a bit nervous too. What are the odds that it will crack? I think I'd rather just seal around the windshield with a good product of your recommendation; is that a poor idea? Thanks,

Well they are probably looking at the time and risk it will take to remove the windshield and the profit they will make if everything goes well. It's just not worth it to most shops plus it's doubtful if anyone there has done this on any 60 year car. You might ask them to do it on a time and material basis and you will be responsible if they brake it. I think it books for 4 hours and often takes longer if it is your first time. I think the last windshield I had put in cost over $500 plus freight and the seal was another $100 bucks plus labor. You might ask....Tedd
