1951 Speedometer noise and overreading?

Hi My 1951 Super 88 has a noisy speedometer. The noise comes from right behind the gauge. It is a grinding which gets higher the faster the car goes. It also reads about double my actual speed. I am new to this, so any advice is appreciated................

Remove the speedometer and send it to someone who specializes in speedometer repair .
Speedometer repair requires special skill and equipment . It's not a DIY proposition .
Look in Hemmings Motor News under " services offered " , for mechanical speedometer repair shops .
