$1500 budget

For rims and tires I know it's not much but I've seen a couple packages to get me through. Jegs has four rims I think American Racing polished aluminum and four Mickey Thompson tires wider in the back for 1200 and change and they go up from there. Anyone know of a good spot to get these packages. 72 Cutlass s rather have the 15s all around wider in the back. If I could do a decent chrome for a couple hundred more $1700 I'm listening. I can't live with these current rims and refuse to throw those Outlaws on. I do like the old school Crager look so what's out there or do I save my money and get top end ??

There are tons of them listed on ebay in this price range. You can get American Racing or Cragar SS wheels. They are probably being sold by Jegs, Summit or somebody like that.

I bought some Eagle Alloy rims from Summit for less than $500. Of course, my 98 has a different bolt pattern than your Cutlass so you will have more options.

I bought my tires from a local tire store. Before I bought them I did a lot of research on Tire Rack and decided on P235/75 R15 General Grabber HTS.

If you don't mind buying from different places... I bought my tires (BFGoodrich Radial T/A All-Season Radials P235/60R15 98S) from Amazon. They were just over $140 each with free shipping. For my wheels I chose Crager S/S's. I picked those up from performanceplustire.com. They were about $160 each.

Now those prices were from a year and a half ago. But I doubt that they have gone up too much.

I purchased my wheels from classic industries they have different bolt patterns and good deals plus I had a discount code for extra off.

Just find your local discount tire store. $1500 should be plenty to get a set of wheels and tires.

This is a good idea as well. I bought my sister and brother-in-law a pair of tires from Amazon for their 2005 Volvo for her birthday last year. They were delivered to her door and were SUPER CHEAP.

I'm kind of a different thought.

For what wheels and tires cost, I'm of the opinion that you should get exactly what you want even if it's a bit more than your budget. The right wheels and tires combined with stance make the single biggest impact on the looks of a car... even more so than paint and everything else.

I give this same advice to everyone to asks me because eventually, you're gonna end up buying what you really wanted anyway so why not now?

That's good advice.

Also consider customer service from the supplier though. I was going to put the Cragar Soft 8s on my Olds 98; however, I called their number to get some measurements and the rep was rude and not helpful at all. So instead I bought the Eagle Alloys which were cheaper and looked dang near the same.

Couldn't agree more I was losing steam with Cut 1 bit the bullet bought some nice wheels and tires it motivated me right back to finishing the car. Only thing that derailed my momentum was Cut 2 now I'm putting new shoes on her should ride that wave right through the winter.
