Im thinking about selling a 12 bolt posi with I think 373 gear. Its an early chevy axle complete except brake parts. What's this axle worth?

It's worth nothing until you confirm the gear ratio & examine the axle tube to see what the axle orignal was so buyers know what they are buying.

As a buyer I want to know I am getting what I pay for. Confirm the gear ratio by pulling the cover & then provide an honest description of the mechanical & cosmetic condition of the parts. Then a fair price can be determined. An early (narrow) Chevy 12 bolt posi in good shape is a very desireable item especially if it is a 3 series carrier.

According to the axle tube # , it is a 68-69 Chevelle 396. 355 big ring gear psi. I'll pull the diff cover some time this week and count the teeth. It was built in Buffalo on February 7 1968 or 69.

early versus late

Your add listed it as an EARLY axle which means it was the narrow version for the 64-67 cars. Now you are stating it is from a 68-69 so in fact it is not an early narrow version after all. The early versions are worth more money as they are harder to find.

Locally those chevelle posi 12bolts bring around $1000 in nice condition. I do not know how much demand for them you have in you neck of the woods

Around here a nice posi 3 series 500-600 for a late model wide one. A early narrow one will bring 900-1200 pretty easy but that not what you have. I have picked up several wide open carrier rears for 200 and less.

Usually the ring and pinion count are stamped on the big end of the pinion.
I used a 69 drum to drum in a 65, without a problem, even with 8" wagon wheels!
