No Power to Convertible Top Switch

I was working on my 1968 442 tach and now I have no power to the convertible top switch. Does anyone know where a wiring diagram of that circuit is? I looked in the CSM diagram but it does not show it.

Thanks in advance,

Tony K.

If it's anything like my 66 you have a high amp fuse. Mine is underneath the brake booster near where the steering column comes through the firewall.

30 or 40A circuit breaker, roughly where Trip said in his post above.

What Eric said. I said fuse meaning circuit breaker.

Found a pic. It's the thing behind the hood hinge on the firewall.

On the firewall below and inboard of the hinge in 68. The convertible assembly was installed by Fisher Body. I believe they ran all the wiring but obviously there was nothing to tie it into so the Assembly Manual picks it up from there

And the cct breaker below the booster feeds the power relay which is behind the left kick panel in a cavity in the door jamb. When you activate the key, you should be able to hear the relay click. That relay also feeds the pwr windows and seat and antenna if so equipped.

Is the power relay present in all cars, or just those with power windows?
I think converts I have had with manual windows didn't have it, but I'm not 100% sure anymore.

I can't remember where my power antenna is powered from but I don't think it was from behind the kick panel. Not to say that I didn't wire it right, but I followed the assembly manual pretty close when I put the car back together. The Assembly Manual appears to show it wired via feedwire to the 20A fuse in the upper left of the fuse panel. I think that's what I did

Thanks everyone!

I didn't even think of looking in the assembly manual.

Section 12 pages 106-108 has a switch chart. The qualifying conditions for the power top switch are "none". I'm assuming the relay is for power windows & antennas (need ignition switch to "on" or "accessory" position).

Tony

The power top does not need the accessory switch on to operate

Found broken wire from horn relay to the 30a firewall breaker.

Thanks again for helping fix it, now if we could just keep the 70 degree weather here in Colorado.

Glad you found it. The breaker is a thermal breaker and I've nver heard of anyone replacing one. In 68's the switch always burns up before the breaker ever opens anyway
