Turn Signal not working left side 72 cutlass

Only 2nd time on this forum. Have a 72 Cutlass S. All 4 sides work when using Hazards lights. Turn signals work front and back on right side. On left side turn signal lever will lock as normal and the front/back lights come on as well as dash indicator, but they will not blink unless the turn signal switch lever is moved up and down. The only other thing is that the flasher on hazard is blinks faster than the right side turn signal blinks. I know that the 2 systems have different flashers. Could it be a weak flasher or problem with turn signal switch or ??????.

Thanks Herv

I just answered this question the other day. I can't find the post here, so it must have been in another forum. The answer is still the same - it sounds like one of your left side bulbs has a bad filament or a bad ground. The hazard lights use a different flasher than the turn signals, so any difference in speed is irrelevant. The turn signal circuit is designed to stay on if one lamp burns out so that you know that one is burned out. If the turn signals on the right work correctly, then you know that the flasher is good. Again, check your bulbs and grounds on the LH side. What's going on when you step on the brakes? The brakes and rear turn signals use the same filament in the rear bulbs. The tail lights use the other filament.

Thanks, I'll list this as dumb on my part. When I saw light on the rear left I did not look down low enough to see that the bottom brake light was not on. Removed 4 screws , replaced bulb, installed 4 screws and I'm back in business.

Thanks Herv
