Help..Brake light questions???

Help..Brake light questions???

Hey guys,

The problem is my brakes lights do not light up when I push the brakes down.On the other hand when I turn on my lights the brake lights stay on the whole time.I change the brake light switch but not sure if I did it right.It seemed real sample.Please any advice would help.

When I changed the brake light switch.I still had the same problem.

The problem is in your signal light switch.

Try wiggling the 4-way flasher switch. If that doesn't fix it, you probably need a new signal light switch.

Is this for the Cutlass in your avatar? Did the lights work correctly before and this is a problem that just started? Or has this been a problem since you got the car? Do the front park lights work correctly or do they do anything weird? It sounds like there's some wires crossed or the whole back end has lost ground.

Yes, its the cutlass in my avatar.Its 1969 Cutlass S. My front lights work fine and it just started doing this in the last couple of months.

The 2 problems are independant of ea other. First, do your 4 ways work properly? Second, when you manually activate the brake light switch do they come on? Are the bulbs good, making connection in the socket?

Your high beams are contolled by the switch on the floor. Check volts and grounds?

Thanks guy..I had to get a new main light switch on the dash and one new brake light housing.Works great now!
