There is a little button on the back of the switch. Push the button and the **** and the shaft should click into place.
I hope this helps.

Ditto, if the button is not on the back, some of them are on the top. You'll feel it really easy and its spring loaded. So if you need to take the light pull out, you hold the button down while pulling. Suggest you have the power lead disconnected though or your lights will be on for a loooooonnnng time before the go out.

Sometimes they are a little tricky. Start the shaft in the switch and then give it a quick rap to help seat it in place.

Thanks for the input. Pulled the switch out ,pushed the button a few times and reinstalled it. It works fine now, maybe the button was stuck open. Once again, thanks for the input.
