Question 69 442 Battery Tray Help

Hi all...I have a 69 442 A/T, 400 with A/C. I need to replace my battery tray & hold down; I do not have the OEM one to match up or a battery. There seems to be two sizes (7 1/4" x 10" & what they call "large" @ 7" x 12") and depending where I look I get conflicting information on what is OE. Would you happen to know how I can determine what was the OEM size or possibly provide an OEM part number or picture of your car so I can x-reference? I've looked through Fusick, OPGI and Classic Olds parts, I suspect the OEM P/N is 411303 (large). Thanks in advance...want to get it right & keep it stock.

I believe a 442 should have the 12" tray and an R71 battery. A 442 should also have an internal regulator with a rectangular plug into the alternator. Someone please confirm or correct this info.

Large tray and correct AC Delco was a R71S the R71S will completely fill it up the tray

I have two 4-4-2 convertibles; a '68 and a'69. The reproduction "correct" battery in my '68 is R59S. I just have a replacement Delco battery in my '69. The battery trays in both cars are the 7 1/4" X 10" size which I'm pretty sure is the correct size (the length of mine actually measure closer to 10 3/8"). I got both battery trays from Fusick (part number BT6875). Fusick says the shorter tray is for cars with the 350 or 400 engines while the longer tray is used on cars with the 455 engine.

1969 442 came with the R69 battery originally but people replace with the R59 which is the same length just a little shorter. Should have come with the smaller tray. 7 1/4" x10".
