Bought this car couple weeks ago,,has a lot of issues but going thru them one by one,,
have searched for the hazard flasher can everywhere,,
by fuse panel, under dash,by steering column, behind radio,,
everywhere I found online when I searched for its placement,
still have not found it,, need to get the hazards working to pass inspection.
Any help appreciated!

If I remember correctly, the flasher on my 87 cutlass and 442 were in the convenience center, inconveniently locate behind the dash, to the left of the steering column (as your looking at the front of the car).
I’m at work, my service manuals are at home, and in all honesty I don’t know if that’s were it is on the earlier cars.

Ill look again, like I said I even removed the ac ducts to get good look and saw no flasher can , unless some removed it but I also looked to see if there where any empty "L" type connectors the can could go in.. Driving me crazy that I cant find such a simple thing! :-D
I just pulled up the actual wiring diagram and it actually shows both of them on the fuse block. I know this is a crazy question but do you by any chance have the owners manual ? If so take a look in there. Ill do some more digging.
Not sure if it will help but looks like the turn signal flasher has a Purple and 2 Dark blue wires going to it. Hazard flasher has Brown and Orange.
I found them on-line (also) all day yesterday from non-reputable sources (e.g. same as your URL link). That fuse box is supposed to be 1978 - 1981 & used on several GM vehicles. I asked OP to provide a picture of his fuse box - still waiting. Obviously, an Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual would be the authoritative point to begin this search - even the Owner's Manual should demonstrate the flasher locations I suspect.
The one in the picture is for the turn signals.
You take it out : no turn signal
put it in : turn signals work
I see no other spot to put another can in.
Ill try looking again further up on under the dash tomorrow,,
cant today my back is killing me,,
this aint as much fun as it used to be ,, gets painful once you turn 60!
:-D
Thats as far as I could get in today to take picture,,as I mentioned my back is killing me,,Ill try and get camera further up tomorrow..
If my back is not too bad Im gonna pull out the drivers seat to fix the slider on it (its rusted tight) which should let me get in under dash easier.
OK. What I was attempting to discover is whether this is the correct OEM fuse box for the car. "If" it is, then there should exist an additional flasher in the upper left-hand corner of the fuse box (identified by yellow box) - but that yellow box area is not visible in your image. That's why I asked where's the top half of the fuse box. Same as what Bill was suggesting but the fuse box we're working with is not an authoritative source - so, we're trying to validate. It sure looks like the same type of fuse box - more research evidently. You don't have the Owner's Manual or the CSM for this car?
Without a CSM or Owner's Manual it makes this searching excruciating because I can't find any authoritative OEM Oldsmobile documentation to support any of these images. I did find one additional image (completely by mistake) with absolutely no reference to where it was obtained. It is nearly an exact mirror of previous images. You have to be exceedingly cautious w/ regard to any non-authoritative documentation. "Supposedly" this is from a 1978 Cutlass. NOTE: Flasher locations.
Instead of searching endlessly for items you don't know exist, why don't you save yourself the trouble and buy an original 1979 OEM Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual and stop guessing?
Thanks to everyone that helped, the position for the can is as the picture shows in top left, there was nothing plugged into mine which made it hard to find ,crawled in there this morning and found it,terminals looked a little toasty so cleaned them well with electronic cleaner and got a new can in there and Voila, hazards work again!
thanks again!
