Wow am I needy lately 😩 omw to frankenmuth mi auto fest the driver power window quit working half way down - from the master switch I can still roll all the other windows up and down but not drivers - I removed the door panel and tested the pad that attaches to the switch - I have power to all but the blue and blue with black strip contacts (H and J on the back of the black connector) that is the “bank” that controls my driver window - is there a way I can roll my window up or down til I fix it? And what would be my best step in diagnosing it? Thanks in advance!
You can run wires directly to the motor to power it - just watch for wires (or fingers!) in the path of the window regulator as it moves. On the 1972 cars, the motor has separate UP and DOWN windings with a common ground. The brown wire into the motor powers the DOWN winding, the dark blue wire powers the UP winding. The red wire with the white stripe is the power feed into the master switch and the only one that will have power in that connector so long as it isn't connected to the switch.

thanks Joe - I ran a jumper from the battery positive to one side of the motor “ - “ then the other side of the motor “ | “ nothing - bad window motor?
Put a jumper wire from the motor to a good ground on the car, not the door. The motor won’t work without a good ground. It is unlikely the door isn’t grounded thru with the hint, spring, or other points of contact, but check the simple stuff first.
Other idea, smack the motor a couple times with a small hammer, rock, rachet, whatever. That sometimes gets motors working again. It’s not a permanent fix, but if it get the window working it’s better than driving in the cold or rain with a window down.

thanks gang - turns out - the motor was bad - k had a spare left and right in my parts bin - lucky me - got it swapped out and working. - thanks for the help - I now understand how to test the motors and am a little better at wire testing - I think I might have a crack at rebuilding the bad motor for a back up - though I have no idea what I’m doing lol - but I’ll read up best I can - thanks again
