'87 Cutlass Ciera Stereo Installation Problem

Hey, so I replaced the stock radio in my 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera "Brougham" with an aftermarket deck. Everything was working fine, then the tail lights went out, then a few days later the display on the deck stopped working. I had to replace a fuse and the tail lights began to work again but the stereo was causing a fuse to blow, so I had to remove it. So the lights work now, but the stereo cannot be plugged in, and when I do it doesn't even turn on anymore. Does anyone know what the potential problem may be? Thanks.

Be sure the radio's power antenna lead (and all other wiring) is well insulated and has no chance to touch bare metal.
Did you add an amp to this setup? Did you have it cranked up so loud right before the fuse blew that the souns was distorted?

You were probably used the light wire for a ground As it shows up as a ground until lights are turned on Very common mistake Go to Radio shack & get a gm Adapter
