Have a slight squeak or squeal (sporadic) at lower speeds. Can I use the 3 in one lock lube? Would this suffice or is a graphite based lube preferred? Finally, rather than going through the dash panel again, can I just unscrew the two piece cable located under the hood and just shoot some spray upwards? Any help is appreciated.
That spray might work, but what you need is to take the cable loose at the transmission, pull it out of the sheath a couple of feet and clean any old hard grease off it. Then lube the LOWER THIRD of the cable with the spray you have or a light-bodied synthetic grease. Reseat the cable in speedo/CC regulator and reconnect to the trans.
If the squeak persists you may need to pull the speedo head and carefully lube it with very light-bodied oil.

To unseat the ring on the trans case, would I not have to disconnect the cable (pictured) to move the cable from the sheath (3 ft.) ? I did not have any squeak prior to inserting some lights (194) in dash bezel. Could I have stretched the cable or would the cable be possibly loose at the head? I just hate to remove the dash again, trying to forego that aspect. In this respect, I would not believe that it is necessary to remove the speedo cable from the transmission case. The squeak is inside the dash bezel. Would it possibly work if I just unscrewed the cable under the hood and just shoot some spay in both directions? Thanks very much for your input. If you could follow up on my reply, it would be beneficial.
