Door buzzer

Is my door buzzer supposed to buzz when ever I open the door? How do I disconnect this thing. What is even the point of it.

The door buzzer is to remind you not to leave the keys in the ignition. If you don't like the buzzing noise, then pull the key out.

Sorry for the lack of info. It's a 72 Cutlass.

It's buzzing when I open the door with no key in the ignition.

There is a little springy thing that moves activating a little switch in the key hole-(yeah can't remember the correct names) Anyway I have seen this switch gizmo but can't really remember how it goes. Mine on my 71 Cutlass is getting sticky and sometimes stays on even with key out. Now I can put key back in and out and get it to stop, but I'm sure eventually it will stick for good, it's going to have to be unstuck. Do you have a shop manual for your car? That will show it. I think it involves removing wheel.

The door buzzer is in the horn relay. Just disconnect the pink wire with black stripe from the horn relay. Problem solved.

I think that's what I'm gonna go with except now I'm guaranteed to leave my keys in the ignition

I've seen many highly restored 442's and the horn buzzers do not work WITH the key.

I pulled the wire on my 70 Supreme back in the early 80s cuz I hated that warbling buzzing noise and I never locked myself out of the car. Now I have a convertible with the buzzer disconnected and I hope I don't lock the keys in it. Oh wait, I'm not blonde, so no worries...

Getting my car out of storage yesterday I noticed now buzzer is on always when door is open. If I move key just so and hold my mouth just right it will quit... So I just unhooked the pink/blk wire from relay as you said Joe. This will probably be a temporarily permanent, or maybe permanently temporary fix!
