70 cuttlass wgn horn lights up marker lights

Good afternoon all.

First of, I tried finding any posts related to my issues. So I apologize if I am duplicating.

My issue started when I hooked up the battery and my headlight switch was left on, no I have no low or high beams and when I press the horn button my fender lights come on.

Also the high beam light is on all the time, I have replaced the dimmer switch and the headlight no change.

thanks Marty

Do you have battery voltage on the blue wire at your dimmer switch with the headlight switch on? Is the high beam light that stays on, the red one on the dash? Have you performed any work inside the steering column recently? Have you checked the ground wires at the headlights?

i have power going into the grounds off the headlights, it is the red light that stays on all the time. No recent work on the column.

If you push on the dimmer switch on the floor does the red light go out? Does the red light go out when the head light switch is off? Do you have voltage on the blue wire at the dimmer switch plug with the headlight switch on?

Check Voltage from horn ground wire to battery negative post. When horn blows, the voltage should be less than 0.1 Volt.

If it is more, then the ground from horn to body panel or body panel to battery needs to be improved. This will eliminate many strange problems.

That still would not enable the horn to interact with the the fender lights.
