Here is my Issue....'69 Toronado

This started just as I was placing the car in winter storage last fall.

Pull the headlight switch to the first position.....no parking lights; no dash lights; no tail lights...NOTHING. (Twisting the **** full left will turn on interior lighting).

Pull the headlight switch full out...I get high beam headlights but still no taillights/side marker lights , or dash lights!

Turn signals (front and rear) and brake lights work as they should.


Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.

There is a tail light fuse and instr light in the fuse box.

I will take another look but when i checked the fuse diagram in my original owners manual....did not see one marked for tail and instruments!

I just placed the Toronado in my remote rental garage so will be a day or two before I can check but hoping you are correct!

Look again. Tail light fuse is 15A and is the third one up on the left. Instrument lamp fuse is 4A and is the top one on the right (and it's oriented vertically, unlike all the others). FYI, the instrument panel light fuse is actually fed by that tail light fuse. The tail light fuse powers the tail light contacts on the headlight switch, and also powers the rheostat in the headlight switch that dims the panel lights. The wire from the rheostat exits the headlight switch and is routed back to the fuse box, where it passes through that 4A fuse before powering the instrument lights. Thus, if that 15A Tail Light fuse is bad (or if the wire from that fuse to the headlight switch is bad, or if the switch itself is bad) you won't get tail lights or instrument lights.

 

It was just a fuse....feeling stupid....but thanks for the help. Somewhere in my car's past, the 15A fuse you refer to had been replaced with a 9A which blew!
