72 Cutlass : Horn Contact and Pin

Hello

Currently the horn contact does not contact the pin. No Horn.

But it seems to me something may be assembled wrong? The Pin, spring, and plastic barrel seem to be inserted and locked in correctly, but when screwing down the horn contact there's a decent gap between the contact and this pin?

It seems like the pin itself should be hire. Could a plate underneath have been put on incorrectly, etc.?

Apppreciate any thoughts

Thanks

Spring in the hole by itself FIRST.
Then the pin (large end down, against the spring).
Then the plastic retainer.

Thanks Joe!!

Ya know, just after I posted that I went to pick up my daughter and was thinking, wait a minute, maybe the pins up side down!!!

Glad you could confirm. I'll get back to it after to work tomorrow.

The spring needs to push the pin UP. The way you had it pushes the pin DOWN.
