I'm looking for a Voltage Regulator for my '67 Delta Convertible. It has a Delcotron 52 amp alternator. I would like NOS. can anyone tell me if any of these will work? The #'s don't cross over to my model according to the parts book on wildaboutcarsonline.com. Will they still work, and also, what does the alphanumeric, two digit code at the end mean? Thanks!

I can't say if they would work or not. The code is the year and month. 2H is 1972 August for example. So to be correct that date has to precede your car build date. Honestly...modern regulators are built better, they are lighter and don't require adjusting. You can go to Autozone and get the right one cheap. Then drill out the rivets, replace with screws and an original "Delco-Remy" cover. It will appear as stock.

 

Mrolds, thanks for the reply! I kind of figured that on the date code, but you just verified it for me! As far as your tip for using a new VR and replacing the cover with my original, that sounds like a great idea! Thanks!

 

And it will be whole lot less expensive.

O'Reilly's or Autozone - ballpark 25.00. The cheaper alternative when NOS just is too much of a rip off.

BTW, you know that any electrical parts warranty ceases the instant its handed to you over the counter, right?

 

Some, and some are warranted for life.

 

I want to know what electrical parts are warranted for life, and what life? Life of the part, life of the vehicle, life of the original owner, or life of the cockroach you squish on the way out of the store.

 

Alternators, starters, ignition modules, voltage regulators at some places are 10 years.

 

Do you have an original regulator part number? If you do I may be able to cross it for you. As far as whether it will work or not is dependant on how your vehicle charging system is wired. Does your original regulator look like the ebay one or is it the finned aluminum style?

The 507 is not correct as a match for the 515 Other delco numbers to replace 515 are 1119500 506 512 516 519 D631 D634 D635 The 507 uses 3 of the regulator spades F 2 3 # 4 is left open. The 507 is used on cars with no resistor from the ign switch acc lead. If you have a charge indicator light with the 507, there will also be a separate charge relay to control the light. The alt R wire will go to the relay. If you have an ammeter with the 507 there will only be 1 wire connected to the alternator plug. F. The 507 and 515 do look the same. I have a basic schematic of the regs and they look the same, but I don't have resistance values on the diagram, so I would be hesitant to try to interchange them, but they may interchange. My advise is do not use the 507 on your application if you had a 515 that did work. I hope this helps and does not cause confusion.

I'd use a new electronic regulator and put your cover on it like has been mentioned. Someone had replaced the one on my Olds and I had to buy a nasty old rebuilt one on Ebay for $20 just to get that Delco Remy cover, through the rest in the trash.
