what do you think??

I went to look at some parts for my 69 cutlass, the guy had a tic toc tach and he said it works fine, but did not have the other gauge pod, we talked it looked good and he said he'd like to get 200 for it, I was going a away for a week and he said he would look around for the gauge pod, ok fast forward a week and now he says 275 for the tach, and no gauge pod, wouldn't I be better off buying the tach and pod from fusicks? I think I saw it for 479, and I don't know if I need the install wiring kit but that adds anothe 179 to the package, I am NOT that concerned about originality, I have an old suntach installed in the housing now, but if fusicks are good quality it just makes sense to get one that is new as opposed to spending 275 for half condition unknown.

what do you think?

The tic toc is my next major upgrade. I am going the aftermarket route myself. You get the original look and modern instrumentation.

If you aren't concerned about originality then why replace the tachometer in your car now? Does it work fine? If so spend the $200-$500 on something else.

well....

I know it sounds strange but maybe I should have said i wanted it to look factory, I also have auxillary gauges for oil and temp, and I hate that hanging off the bottom of the dash board, so I would like it to look fairly factory, but I am not obsessed with getting a date code correct oldsmobile original item, and rebodying my car to a convertible with a tic toc tac if an aftermarket one would be functionally good, and keep with the "factory" look of the car, I know lots of guys strapped a suntach to the column with a hose clamp, and put the gauges outside on the hood, but I do like the look of the factory gauges etc. I also went to the trouble of locating an amfm radio, instead of putting a high end unit in the dash, I will find someway to put my itunes player in the glovebox or console storage compartment.
