What company have you used for reproduction wiring harnesses?
Hi All
In the 1990's I used my 1970 442 as a daily driver. The wiring was hacked up so I installed a painless wiring kit. Now I'm wanting to restore the car to original and considering replacing that with correct factory harnesses. I wanted to check and see what companies/brands of reproduction harnesses others have used. Were you happy with the product? Did you find any problems doing the install? The painless kit replaced bumper to bumper and the fuse box. It was not an easy task to install! John

M&H Electric and American Autowire are the 2 major manufacturers of OEM repro harnesses that I'm aware of - both have solid reputations and their harnesses can be purchased either directly from them or thru numerous part vendors (the latter possibly a better choice when sales are being run).
I have used both and no complaints - I replaced all the wiring in my ragtop with harnesses from both.

I was very interested in M&H, then I called them and there was a 4 month wait.
So I called American auto wire and went with them.
They rebuilt my fuse block and supplied every other harness in about 2 weeks.
Everything has worked beautifully so far.
The one comment I have is there are no instructions…you need a good wiring diagram.
Unlike painless, there are no tags that say, “alternator, clock, lighter” etc.
They have codes just like the factory.
Overall very pleased with their work. And it looks great.

I used M&H for an engine harness on a 1965 fuel-injected Corvette with transistor ignition (TI).
Even though it was a rare combination of options, the harness fit well and replaced everything perfectly, including the board-level TI connections and weatherproof TI wire entry seal.
It was impressive.
