Underhood Light - how to dismantle/ replace wire?
Trying to resurrect an old underhood light

Has anyone removed the mercury switch from one of these, say in order to refurbish the housing and replace the wire?
I had to cut and tear open a rusty one in order to get it apart. I don't see an obvious dimple or whatnot that keeps the plastic switch cover in place in the housing. Tap from wire side until it comes apart or breaks??
