Tic Toc Tac installation , repop

Tic Toc Tac installation , repop
Hi guys!
I got a repop Tic Toc Tac/clock and will be installing with a Pertronix 3 EI.
I relize the higher voltage will need to be adjusted. Pertronix is saying to add a resistor OR a capacitor inline to adjust the voltage if the tac doesn't work properly.
My guess is I will fry it on the first "try and see if it works"!
So, whats the best first step that you guys suggest?
