I want to convert my 72 Cutlass over from lights to the rally gauges. Does anyone have any idea what all is involved. I know the sensors on the engine have to be changed. Can the existing wiring be used. If there is anyone out there who can help please let me know. Thank You. JIM

The stock wiring can be used, you need to move a few of the wires in the connector body. All that is needed to do that is a pick or paperclip to push down the locking tab on the terminal. You also need to run a wire from the tach to the coil. Pretty simple to do.

I could be wrong in this application, but, typically, idiot light senders are binary, all or nothing, things, and gauge senders show a range. A light sender can run a gauge, but the gauge will only show two things and not a range.

I did this for my '68 4-4-2. I don't know if the wiring configuration is the same for 70-72 as it is for 68-69 but, if it is, the diagram below shows what I had to do for the '68. It was a bit tedious but fairly straight forward and easy to do as long as you take your time!

gauges
Thank you everyone for there answers. I checked my 72 out today and it is a little different than a 68. But not by much. Now all I have to do is find a good set of Rally Pac gauges for a decent price. Thanks again. JIM
