The wipers quit working on my 66 and I'm hoping to test the switch and motor before I start replacing stuff. At first they worked but seemed like every other time I drove it they wouldn't work until they stoped so I got under the dash and pulled the wires off the switch and put them back on and the wipers worked again. Now I'm getting nothing out of the wipers, I'm getting power to the switch and power on the yellow wire at the motor

 

The wiper switch is supplying a ground to the wiper motor through the light blue wire. The dark blue wire is supplying a ground for the washer pump at the the motor. The yellow wire is unswitched power from the fuse box to the motor.

The Chassis service manual has good info for this and without it, it can be tricky to understand. (at least it was for me) As said above, the switch controls the ground side of the circuits and the motor is hot full time. I suspect a ground problem at the switch with intermitent operation.

ok i was reading this i took a test light and it doesnt seem like im getting power on the yellow wire by the wiper motor , i checked both sides of fuse and power on both sides

 

See if you have voltage at the bulkhead connecter and that its tightly secured.

 

OK what and where is the bulkhead connector

 

Under the master cylinder, where all the wires go to and from the inside of the car.

 

OK I see it, looks pretty dirty so I am going to disconnect it and try to clean it up. Thanks for the help there i hope this solves it

 

finally got a chance to look at my wipers. turns out the motor was getting rusty inside, cleaned it up and its working again. i know it wont last long but atleast i have wipers for now.
