Tail light problems

I posted earlier about smoking issue it is almost completely gone. Nope I need to fix my light issues. Right now I have no tail lights, brake lights, etc. The bulbs are new, the pigtails were replaced by re wiring them one at a time as I took them off. Still nothing at all. Using a test light I get power from the yellow wire from the harness that goes to one side of the pigtail. The other side of the pigtail has 2 brown wires from the harness that are connected and they have power as well with the test light. The metal around the bulbs in the pigtail also have power from tester. Still no bulbs though when you try brakes or taillights. What should I try next, ps I really no nothing about wiring just trying what I can think of. Thanks in advance!

Have you checked for power in the light sockets? The brown wire is tail lights, the yellow is brake and turn signals for the left side, and the green is brake and turn signals for the right. What are you calling pigtails? Are you using 1157 lamps?

Do the instrument panel and parking lamps work? If so then the tail light fuse is good.

Do the 4 way hazard lights work for the front of the car? If so then the brake light fuse is good.

The light socket is what I am calling the pigtail. That’s what the parts place called them when I replaced them. The socket has power when I touch it with the test light I have. The dash is still apart from the interior paint. I have the head light switch installed and the gauges but not much else. Just going piece by piece. On the driver side I have 2 brown wires and a yellow wire going to the socket. The 2 brown are wired together and to one side of the socket and the yellow is wired to the other side of the socket. The 2 brown wires didn’t have power when I checked them individually but when I put them back together and to the socket they had power then.

Are the sockets grounded? Are you using 1157 lamps? The brake lights run through the directional switch, is the steering column plugged in?

You got me fixed up. Thanks! The turn signal fuse was bad and the socket wasn’t grounding in the tail light properly. Everything works now

Ok still having a problem out of the passenger side working then not working. I believe the ground is the issue. Would it be ok to solder a wire to the metal ground in the socket and run it to a screw in the trunk or frame?

It's probably not a ground but the contacts inside the socket. Wiggle the wires and push them into the socket from behind.
