Starter wiring 1971 Cutlass

My starter has one larger post and two small posts. Going to a mini starter with one large and one small post. Question, what do I do with the the two small wires one is white and one is black? Thanks

Do you have any type of electronic ignition in it? If you do only run the purple wire to small post on starter. The other isn't needed. If you still have a points style ignition I don't have an answer to give you then.

You don't need the wire that bypasses the resistance wire that is currently connected to the R terminal.

You're good to go then. The purple start wire should also be larger than the run wire.

I put a mini starter in and have points on a 1971. I had to abandoned the bypass wire with the mini starter. Car starts fine through the resistance wire (granted in a garage during mild temps).
