Speedometer Trouble shoot please

Speedo quit on me a little bit ago. If I spin the cable leading to the dash; needle moves on gauge. If I disconnect the cable leading from the tail of trans and accelerate; cable spins at transducer. No kinks, no binds (from these tests)

This is a shot of the transducer, Can I assume this is where my problem lies? Is this a piece I should service or just replace? I don't really care about cruise control so If there is a way to bypass this and just connect from trans to gauge I'd be interested in the protocol.

Thanks!

If it were me, I'd fix the cruise, but you said you don't care about it. Assuming the speedometer is in proper working order, just buy a cable for you application without cruise and hook it up. It will be about twice as long and and connect directly from the transmission to the speedometer.
