Shot in the Dark
By chance does anyone know what the solid brown wire is for under the dash of a '68 cutlass convertible? It seems to be a pig-tail coming off the fuse box. It currently has a black wire plugged into it that goes through the firewall which is not attached to anything.

check the wiring diagram in your chassis service manual...

I would guess the underhood lamp perhaps.
