Rotor

Does anyone have a partnumber of the roter? inside the distributor.
I think that's the problem i have, the engine is not stil running.

The distributor doesn't work properly, as result the sparkplugs ( new one's) don't spark.

I hope it's the rotor, not the condensor ore anything else.
If anyone have a picture of the right fireringorder on the distributorcap.

And if this doesn't work, what can i choose to get a magnetic or electric distributor upgrade ( hope for a gm (chevy) part that is easely to get in the Netherlands)

check out this link. Go about halfway down the page. I am not sure if you can order from them but they are about the biggest and best known Auto parts guys in USA. Good luck.

Oh BTW, why not change the condenser, cap and everything else too, they really don't cost that much. Complete tune-up is the way to go!

edit: I forgot about the other question. instead of telling you, here is a nice link with a nice picture.

Hi D,

Have you verified that the coil is providing spark to the distributor?

Yes the coil is verivied, and while checking the point distance (with metal screwdriver) it's sparked.
And i checked al the wires to.

I think it's the rotor, it seems worn and differend i ever seen.
Seems like the rotor does not hit the points on the cap.
Does anyone have a original partnumber of the roter? (easier to order in the netherlands)

About the rotorcap, is it possible that my wirering order plug 1 begins at nr 5?
Opposite of dan's posted picture (link)? (olds 88 delta 69')

The wiring can actually start anywhere since it is on a 360* circle. As long as the ORDER is correct, that is what is important. What I mean is this, you can select any tower on the distributor cap to be the #1 cylinder as long as you use the correct order and rotation direction to wire the remaining 7 cylinders.

Dan is right about the order of the wires, but you'll have to make sure you can rotate the distributor so that the number 1 wire aligns with the rotor when cylinder 1 is at top dead center (TDC) on compression stroke.

Unless your rotor is visibly damaged, it is not likely to be the problem. If you have spark from the coil, and your rotor and cap are not visibly damaged, it is probably a timing issue.

Try moving the crankshaft to align the timing marks. This will put cylinder 1 at TDC. The rotor should be pointing at the #1 wire if compression stroke or 180 degrees away from the #1 wire if exhaust stroke. This should give you an idea where the #1 wire goes on the cap.

On some GM distributors, it is possible to mount the rotor backwards and that will rotate everything 180 degrees.
