Radio Wiring

This AM/FM radio

was in the trunk of a car I bought. I would like to wire it up and test it. I just don't want to burn it up by incorrectly wiring it. I assume red and yellow wires are for power. Not sure of any of the others. Am I missing a 3 wire connection? Thanks

There should be a stamping on the top or bottom or both covers that shows the connections. The yellow is +12V, gray is the dial light (turns on and dims with the dash lights), brown is ground. The green & black wires are the front speakers, and the 3 pin connector is for the rear speakers (uses a common ground). I don't recall the pinouts, but again, check the covers for the stamping.

No information on the top or bottom of the radio, maybe inside? I think you got me going.

thanks

I have yet to see a Delco radio that doesn't have the stamping, it's subtle, but it should be there. BTW the red flying wire is a feed for the power antenna. I will try to find a picture of the pinouts and post it.

Here's a photo of a similar radio with the connections stamped in. They are the same as the reply above.

You can also bench test it, less aggravating to do.

Get any 12V pug in charger and attached the wires accordingly. YouTube it, it's very easy.

When bench testing, please use a fuse.

I took a closer look and sure enough the info was there under the plug ins. What type speaker can I use 4 or 8 ohm?

Definately 8 ohm, 4 ohm speakers will make the output stages run very hot, possibly ruining the output transistors.
