Radio replacement suggestions.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, please move if not. I want to replace the original radio in my 65 Cutlass (which doesn’t work) without cutting the dash. Will a din1 fit in the stock opening? Unfortunately I can’t afford one of the modern retro radios. At present there is a cheap older cassette radio on the glove box. I’m open to any suggestions.

You can have your original radio retro-fitted with AM/FM and other fancy stuff such as blue fang.

No, a modern single din will not fit your dash without cutting. There are many inexpensive single din stereos that will fit in the glove box while your stock radio is just left installed for display only.

The retro fitting is a little pricey. Guess I’ll end up with it back in the glove which is a pita.

I discovered there are 3.5" round radios for boat applications that would be a good fit into an empty clock or gauge pod. Amazingly full featured for the size.
