Proform 66438 install (1970)

Hi Guys,

Installed a Proform 66438 ("one wire") alternator with internal regulator on my 1970 Cutlass Supreme. Question is: What to do with the Dark Blue and White ("F" and "R") wires respectively that were attached to the old alternator? Tape 'em?

If I tape 'em, does that mean my Gen light is useless now or does it get triggered somewhere else? Assuming I can toss the old regulator that was attached to the firewall and I would tape those as well.

If this means the Gen light is useless now, anyone aware of something I can do to wire it in so it serves a purpose? Or is aftermarket gauges the way to go (it is a restomod anyway and I'm not a stickler for stock).

Thanks much!

James
P.S. Someday I hope to know enough to actually help someone else and stop taking and taking and taking your knowledge!

There are different ways to make a one wire alt. I am not sure how the proform66438 is made. Some allow for the light to function and some don't. The ones I make do allow for the lite function, but then it would technically be a 2 wire and can be used as a true 1 wire or a 2 wire with the lite. You should ask the company you bought it from if the lite function will work. Mark
