Hello!

Please excuse my bad English, I'm a 26year old exchange student from Germany and I just arrived in Oregon.

I bought an 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale and I've got some electrical issues.

1. The high-beam switch doesn't work. I can pull the lever but nothing happens. Can I just hot-wire the highbeam lights with a seperate switch?

2. I bought an universal keyless entry remote on ebay and want to connect it with the power doors. Has anyone done sth. like that before and knows which cables I have to connect?

I have three options: Negative trigger, positive trigger and positive/negative trigger.

I also bought the Haynes Repair Manual with the circuit diagrams in it, but they are sometimes hard to read

The "dimmer switch" is bolted onto the steering column, and there is a rod that pushes it.

Also, that haynes manual is probably better used in the fireplace.

I recommend the GM manuals.

Use the manual to read what color the door lock wires are, and then figure out which wires on the keyless lock actuator dose what and hook them up

 

The dimmer switch is located on the side of the steering column. There are two common failures. The switch itself can go bad, and the metal rod that operates it can fall out of position. The switch is easily replaced if you drop the column.
