power antennas

Has anyone found a decent aftermarket replacement for the cutlass/442 rear fender power antennas(I have a '69)? I still have the exterior mounting hardware, switch, tube that the antenna retracts into, and wiring in my car. The tube is empty with no mast or motor. I have a VERY hard time justifying $500 for an original antenna. I'm hoping to find an aftermarket model that I can feed up through the original external trim/nut. Before I go out and start buying a bunch of similar GM antennas (seems to be an abundance of 60's/70's Cadillac antennas that are similar) or universal antennas to see their suitablity for modification with the original hardware, I was hoping someone else would have some ideas. Thanks

Don't forget to get one that ends up sticking up about 6" when fully retracted.

Might try contacting Fusick. They may be able to remast your OEM unit? Only other options are to locate NOS or something off another GM car like a B body. B body parts can be cheaper as the demand is less. Have you looked at the Chevelle and GTO world. The parts are similar and often in higher demand which means the price comes down somewhat compared to Olds. I do believe there is aftermarket power antennas out there as well, chineasium???

allyolds68 (Mike) installed a B body antenna in the vert you see in the avatar. It looks great. He'll pipe up with what he found.

I have a B-Body antenna mine and the only difference is it opens more (which you can control by not putting it up so high). I spent $50 on ebay for it ten years ago

I just took a quick look at ebay, and pretty much every pre '80 or so GM power antenna seems to be worth it's weight in gold . . .

Mine is getting a bit balky so I found this universal replacement online. I'll try to clean/lube the current one before buying something like this so no idea how good or bad it is. Would not expect much but may be OK for a driver. Just keep it retracted around purists.
