parking lamps/head lights

Are the parking lamps, the amber lights int he front bumper supposed to be off when the head lights are on? when i pull the the headlight switch out to the first position they are on, then when i pull the switch all the way out to turn on the head lights they turn off. is that correct?

It's absolutely correct, 1st detent is the parking lights, second is the headlights w/o the parking lights. That's how the older cars were.

+1. Newer models, starting, I think, in 1968, had them all come on at the same time, and had one fewer terminal on the headlight switch.

If you want your park lights on with the head lights, then remove the park light wire from the switch and move it to the right rear corner of the switch where the unused terminal is.
