Hey guys,
I bought an am/fm radio('65), off e-bay for my '65 Vista to replace the mint working am! Installing was no prob, switched 12V no problem...ant no problem...thought I had the dash speaker right, but no sound? Radio turns on, lights up, and I hear the music coming out of the radio itself, but barely audible! Can't get it to come out of the speaker!
The speaker does work!) Can't see that I'm hooking this up wrong....it's pretty simple! Does this sound like something could be wrong with the output of the radio? Guy said he tested it, but you know how that goes! Thanks.....

Assuming it has 12 volt negative ground wiring... does the impedance of the radio match the speaker? (8 ohm, 4 ohm etc...) Is the antenna connected correctly? If the speaker is grounded to the dash then there should only be one wire leading to the speaker. Listen for any audible pop or hum when you power the system, at least you'll know the speaker works.

Sounds like the audio transformer is out to lunch.
..need technical repair; if there is a model number for the radio, let's have it...Cutlass did not have AM/FM untill '67...fullsize was '63

Your 7289 number is in the '65 era but the 698 does not show up
some people selling radios on E-bay refer to a website ID'ing the numbers for the radios they are selling...I am using a Delco radio service manual with a six page radio index in the front..
