Non Olds: '98 Maxima AC problem

Need to fix something before listing my mom's '98 Maxima for sale. It's not in my possession currently but I do not believe it has 'climate control' and instead has a **** for off-1-2-3-4 AC fan speeds

speeds 1-2-3 do not work. no fan movement. speed 4 (High) works.

on my '01 pathfinder with climate control based on advice here I replaced something called the fan control amplifier when the fan would not turn off or turn to a lower setting...it was stuck on high unless the car was turned off.

i believe cars without climate control have a resistor to regulate fan speed rather than the amplifier, but I understand they do the same thing.

in the '98 It's not exactly the same problem as the fan not turning off or to a lower speed, so with only the fan on HIGH working, is it likely the resistor needs to be replaced ?

or is this probably a different problem ?

Sounds like the resistor, providing that it is actually used in that car. You might visit and search through some nissan sites, as I am sure other owners have had similar issues.
