No Spark
No Spark
For a 83 Cutlass Supreme 3.8
I had spark before I changed both head gaskets. I had to move most of the wires out of the way but when I put everthing back together, I have no spark. I changed the ignition coil since it was only bout 15 bucks and still nothing. All I did was remove the distributor. Do I have everthing connected to the cap properly?
Distributor Cap
BAT terminal Pink wire
TACH No wire
C- Brown
GRD Black
B+ Pink
That's how I have it all hooked up. Could it be how the distributor was installed that has something off?

Did you put the distributor in the exact position that it came out?...If not you must reinstall the distributor properly using #1 spark plug and piston Top Dead Center....The pink wire is 12volt...check there and make sure you have 12 volts with key on. Also make sure plug on distributor is connected to cap...if you have 12 volts on pink wire then the problem is with coil, rotor, cap, pick-up coil or module. Even with the distributor not installed correctly you should still have spark.
I used a spark plug tester. Another thing that the car is doing which I thought was another problem, when I rotate the starter, it turns but will not stop turning with the key. Got to remove the bat cable to make it stop. This all started when I put everything back together. The starter is brand new, got it tested and passed four times. Could it be the ignition switch?
I had an ignition switch that went bad on my 93 Buick LeSaber; however, it is a different style switch. Mine went bad because it had the anti-theft pellet resistor in the key. I read that they fail often. Once I replaced my ignition switch I no longer had the starting problems that were plauging my car.
