missing something

flipping through the Assembly manual last night and saw fuel sending wiring went through the trunk.
Getting my gauge to work after the body shop was on my to do list. So I got up and took this picture.
When I test light it the gauge starts working.
Now I need to find a connector.

also on another project
some times I find the previous owners repairs.
No wonder the fan didn't work

That connector looks like the one for the license plate light. The one for the Gas Gauge is toward the back of the trunk.

That's where my fuel gauge sending wire is. It goes through a grommet near the trunk latch then runs right above the fuel filler neck under the trunk floor.

Yes, there are a few wires back there! Gas gauge and license plate lights. Someone hooked mine up wrong, took me a WHILE to figure that out...

Yea the light brown "Tan" wire on the drivers side trunk looks like it should run to the fuel gauge sending unit.
However the body shop did leave it visible.
Looks like i need to drop the tank and see if it is coiled up on top of the tank or missing completely.
the body shop lost original tank this is the replacement tank. My thinking other halve of the wire stayed attached to old tank

Sounds like a careless body shop. Before you drop the tank take a look at the front of the tank and see if they have the fuel sender wire hanging down there. I'd be calling the body shop on this and have them replace/repair the connector. It's a fairly big job to drain the tank and lower it down. Best with a hoist unless you feel up to removing the rear bumper for better access.

BTW, is your PNT code 14? Looks like the car is a shade lighter than that.
