Hey thanks for the reply,

I cut the fuel gauge wire at the top of the tank just before it reaches the opening of the pick up .
I spliced it back together with a side by side wire connector but still no voltage before or after the block connector in the trunk.
what am I missing

There will not be any voltage there unless its open. The float works off of the ground side. Is your gauge working with the key on?

Ground that wire with the key on, the gauge should go to E. If it does, check your work or the ground to your fuel sender is no good, or the sender itself..
