Marker lights/parking lights stay on when blinkers activate

I have a 1970 cutlass and when I turn on my headlights/marker lights and use my blinkers the marker lights on ither side stay a solid color and don't blink. Both the front and rear blinkers are now blinking rapidly. I tried to change out a cuple bulbs and it doesn't seem to have done anything.

I don't think the fender marker lights are supposed to blink with the blinkers on a 1970 Cutlass. I know they do not on a '68 or '69. Although if you want this, there is a wiring diagram available on the interweb that can make this happen. Your other issue, fast blinking, since you already changed a "cuple bulbs," may be due to a faulty ground. I may have this backward: If your blinkers are FAST, then a front bulb/circuit is bad. If your blinkers illuminate but don't blink, one of the rear bulbs/circuits is bad.

In 1970 the side marker lights did not flash with the turn signals. 1971 was the first time that this feature was incorporated.

The main issue is the front blinkers are flashing but the other part of the bulb stays on so it does not look like it's flashing. I forgot to say that in the first post

Are you talking about the side marker lights or the front parking lights?

One more time.
MARKER lights are the single filament 194 bulbs on the SIDES of the front fenders.
PARKING lights are the ones in the front bumper that use dual filament 1157 bulbs.

Which ones are you talking about?

My mistake I haven't messed with any of my lighting and am not very good with terminology. It's the parking lights that stay on when the blinkers activate.

They are supposed to. The parking light filament is powered from a completely separate circuit than the turn signal filament. The only common point is the ground at the socket. The parking light filament is 8 watts, the turn signal is 27 watts and should be considerably brighter.

When I look at the bulb it does not even look like it's blinking I have to look closely to see that the filament is actualy blinking

If one filament is blinking and one is not, the circuit is functioning properly. Check for low voltage on the turn signal circuit. Are the rear turn signals also dim?

Perhaps your bulb is inserted wrong, or your socket is wired wrong. Maybe the 27 watt filament is hooked to your parking lights and the 8 watt filament is your blinkers. This could account for not being able to tell the difference between 27 watts (parking lights) and 35 watts (parking + blinkers). They should be the opposite. So you could tell the difference between 8 watts (parking lights) and 35 watts (parking + blinkers).
