light issue

Ok my lights on low beam work great, the flashes work and dash stays lit. However on high beam the lights work the flashes work but the dash goes black.

What is happening? I'm lost. I replaced the dimmer switch already nothing changed. Please help.

Sounds like you have some wiring to chase under the dash.

This shouldn't happen.

My best guess is that some previous owner connected the instrument lamps to the low beam circuit instead of the instrument circuit.

Do the instrument lights din with the dimmer?

Yes on low beam when they are on I can dim them. I noticed when I am on high the signal lights are on solid while everything else is blacked out and if I try to signal it is back wards. Right links the left light and visa versa. My problems are only in high beam.

Take a good look at the grounds, bad grounds can give the wierdest of symptoms, including those you have.
It may well be you have another problem, but always check for good grounding first.

Ok after a few weeks, some good advice, and tracing a schematic I figured it out. The damn gauge was not grounded. All the wires were great but i noticed that the other gauges had a metal bracket where the mounting screws go. Speedometer didn't. I also remembered that when I pulled the gauge a paper clip fell out. They had ghetto rigged it. All it took was a 6 inch piece of wire. Simple damn fix. lol
