Ignition wire from the fuse box to the coil

I have read some of the other posting regarding aftermarket distributors. I installed a MSD 8529 ready to run and for the coil "+" I tapped into the fuse box with the prong that says "IGN" the car starts and runs fine, but if I leave the key in the on position by mistake for more than maybe 30-45 seconds without attempt to turn over the motor, it blows the "DIR Signal/ Backup" fuse which is just to the right of the "IGN" source I'm using. Is this normal or is there a problem somewhere? Why is the coil drawing so much current?
