Sorry have exact same issue. Yes the light comes on when key is on position and stays on now that car is running. Putting out 12.5 volts but I'm getting a discharged battery. Looks like a conversion alternator 2 prong.

Sounds to me that you have a bad regulator, should be putting out 14.5ish volts.

unfortunately the regulator has been bypassed. I've noticed it dim a few times but it's never stayed on. Checking everything out today even tho it's 105 out

What does that even mean? The car must have a voltage regulator to charge properly. If the original external regulator has been "bypassed", that usually means the car was converted to a 12SI alternator with internal regulator. How about some photos so we can stop guessing and provide you with useful information.

Yes it's been converted, I installed ac from vintage air years ago and went ahead and converted it over since It came with a 12si alternator. Anyways it's only putting our 11 volts at idle and under load so I'm hoping it's just bad alternator. 2nd one in 2 years. Really regretting getting rid of that external regulator now. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Fml. Posting pics now. Not wanting to upload have to walk inside
