how do you remove a light bulb housing?

Guys I need to have the back up light housings re-plated, how do you remove the light bulb housing without destroying it?

I don't believe they can be removed without destroying them as the inner lip is folded over onto the housing to lock it down to the housing. Are you replating them just to have a nicer looking back part of the housing? If you look at my 69 442 conv restoration thread I just restored the reverse and tag lights and show what I did. If you completely disassemble the wiring and the rubber insert and bead blast everything, you can paint the back and then reassemble. If your lights have a chrome face then I believe the sockets could be taped off and the plater should be able to guide you.
