Horn not working

Just to be clear about something I read in another thread, I just jumped the black wire terminal on the horn relay to ground and the horns worked. Does this mean the relay is good and the problem is between the black wire connector and the steering wheel ground? also my key buzzer does not work so could both of these problems be in the steering column wiring/ground?? Thanks, Rick

If the horns work the relay is good, the problem is somewhere between the relay and the horn contact in the column, not the relay itself.

Thanks Sugar Bear. I was glad about that. The relay is pretty pricey.

There should be a brass strap connecting the steering shaft at the rag joint to the steering box. Ground path.

Yes, there should be a braided strap from the rear of the passengers side head to the firewall.

OK great. I know I have the braided strap to the head but I will check the other one. Thanks again!

You can jumper to ground the black wire at the connector on the steering column. That will eliminate all the cars wiring except in the column itself. If the horn works there, then take the steering wheel of and troubleshoot the column.

I will certainly try that. I had to leave Michigan's unending winter for 10 days in Florida. Thanks for the info. I really do appreciate it!
