help relay fuse ?????????
I am trying to identify a fuse or some type of relay on my 1973 olds 98..It is bolted to the firewll right next to the vacuum canister...Its pretty mush in the center of the firewall...It has about 6 wires going onto a stud that is coming out the front of it...Underneath there is 3 plgs that plug into it...I would like to replace it....thanks
It's the main electrical junction block. All Oldsmobiles prior to about 1978 have it. Some on firewall, some on fenderwell.
Just curious why you want to replace it? Without it, nothing electrical on the car will work unless you splice all the wires on it together. There's a feed from the (+) battery cable, a feed to/from the alternator, a main feed to the fuse block with a fusible link in it, and depending on car's electrical accessories, a feed to power windows/seat/tailgate along with other things.

It most certainly is the horn relay-junction block, according to the wiring diagram. Quite a lot of important wires connect there, including wires to the horns themselves, a wire to the horn button on the steering wheel, a fusible link through which power to the under-dash fuse panel runs, air-conditioner power, a fusible link from the starter solenoid, two connections to the generator, air-conditioner power, and the ignition switch key buzzer.
I have a '73 Custom Cruiser which has the same engine compartment as your car, and I just now went down to take a look at this. It's well back there behind the engine in a very inaccessible spot, and it looks like getting at it would be bear and a half. Why do you want to replace it?
